SEVENTEEN member Xu Minghao, popularly known as The8, encountered a terrible experience upon his arrival in China. He had come for the Kiko Milano event as their global brand ambassador, but faced a chaotic scenario at the airport. Several photos and videos show him covering his face entirely.
A video shows The8's arrival at the airport, where he initially posed for photos while walking inside the airport's terminal. However, the situation quickly escalated as a crowd of fans rushed toward him. Despite minimal security, the singer seemed visibly frightened as fans began touching and pulling him.
Although the singer seemed better during a livestream later on, fans did not forget the incident and expressed their anger over those at the airport and also shamed his agency - Pledis Entertainment- for not providing the star with better security. Sharing a video from the airport, a fan wrote on X, "He still waves goodbye to them… oh Minghao you’re too kind for this cruel world."
One more fan posted, "May I ask if @pledis_17 @pledis17_STAFF and XCSS don't have the money to hire bouncers anymore? Those at the airport are people who take pics of celebrities for profit, not fans at all! Why should Minghao be subjected to such treatment?" Another commented "I can’t even put into words how mad & worried I am right now. seeing Minghao covering his ears and panicking while people kept on mobbing him. Pledis when will u learn. The op in the video was also laughing. Like not a single respect left in their bodies. Absolutely disgusting."
According to numerous reports, Minghao has now been provided with better security. There have been some new pictures that are circulating in which he's seen going around with tight security.
For those unacquainted, The8 is a part of the 13-member Kpop group SEVENTEEN. Formed by Pledis, the band consists of S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. They released their EP 'Seventeenth Heaven' in October.
