The crime thriller ‘Animal’, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, is continuing to rake in moolah, both domestic and worldwide, ever since it released on December 1. Also, the film is showing no signs of slowing down even after a week in the cinema halls.
On its eighth day of release, the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer minted an impressive Rs 23.34 crore in India, taking its overall collection to Rs 362.11 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
As for its box office details, the film collected Rs 63.80 crore on opening day, followed by Rs 66.27 crore on Saturday, Rs 71.46 crore on Sunday, Rs 43.96 crore on Monday, Rs 37.47 crore on Tuesday, Rs 30.39 crore on Wednesday, and Rs 24.23 crore on Thursday.
So far, the film has collected Rs 563 crore worldwide, as per T-Series, and is currently the fourth-biggest Hindi film of the year. It is only behind ‘Gadar 2’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, and is expected to overtake Sanju to become Ranbir’s biggest-ever hit.
Not to miss, the film has had the third-biggest opening week in the history of Hindi film, and the biggest opening week for a non-holiday release.
While the Hindi version of ‘Jawan’ earned Rs 327.88 crore in its first week, ‘Pathaan’ collected Rs 318.50 crore in its first week. ‘Gadar 2’ raked in around Rs 284.63 crore in the same time.
Clearly, it looks like ‘Animal’ can continue to dominate the ticket counters until Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ hits the cinemas on December 21. The film also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in pivotal roles. Nonetheless, the film has also received criticism for its portrayal of toxic masculinity, which some cast members have spoken about after the release.
