Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna along with Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri and Bobby Deol, is busy minting money at the box office before Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ arrives in theatres this week. Post ‘Dunki’, helmed by Rajkumar Hirani’, the cinema halls would witness the arrival of Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’, which releases on December 22.
As for the film’s box office collections, sfter entering the Rs 500 crore club domestically on Sunday, ‘Animal’ saw its lowest-ever single-day haul on Monday, as it earned Rs 5.50 crore on its 18th day, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk.
The total domestic collection of ‘Animal’ now stands at Rs 517.94 crore, and the film needs only around Rs 8 crore to surpass Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ as the sixth highest-grossing Indian film in India. ‘Gadar 2’ wrapped up its theatrical run with Rs 525.7 crore. However, with ‘Dunki’ and ‘Salaar’ around the corner, ‘Animal’ certainly has a limited time.
Not to miss, SRK’s previous two releases, ‘Jawan’ (Rs 640.25 crore) and ‘Pathaan’ (Rs 543.09 crore) are at the fourth and fifth positions in the list of all-time highest-grossing Indian films.
Despite mixed reviews from audiences and critics, ‘Animal’ has minted Rs 835 crore globally, and has become the third Indian film of the year to pass the $100 million milestone, after ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’. However, the long to make Rs 1000 crore mark looks tough for ‘Animal’, considering SRK’s ‘Dunki’ and Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’.
‘Animal’ was released in theatres on December 1 along with director Meghana Gulzar’s biographical drama ‘Sam Bahadur’. The Vicky Kaushal-starrer has earned Rs 78.25 crore domestically till Monday. Globally, the film managed to cross the Rs 100 crore gross mark earlier this week.
‘Animal’ also stars Shakti Kapoor, Prem Chopra, and Suresh Oberoi, among others. Meanwhile, Ranbir was last seen in ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ alongside Shraddha Kapoor.
