December 2023 saw the clash of two juggernauts at the box office- 'Dunki' and 'Salaar: Part 1-Ceasefire'. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer released worldwide on December 21 while 'Salaar' starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran hit the screens on December 22. Both movies are of different genres and both have their respective audiences at the box office. Both movies saw a growth on its second Sunday.
'Dunki's Day 11 collection was more than the second Saturday (Day 10). On the eleventh day of its release, Rajkumar Hirani's directorial earned double-digits as it minted Rs 12 crore net in India as per a report in Sacnilk. So, the total collection of SRK starrer stands at Rs 188.22 crore in the domestic market.
The film had an overall 38.49% Hindi occupancy on Sunday. Morning shows witnessed 17.88%, afternoon shows 43.97%, evening Shows 54.00% and Night shows saw 38.12% footfalls.
Reportedly, 'Dunki' has crossed the Rs 361 crore mark worldwide.
'Salaar' also saw a surge compared to its second Saturday collections. On Saturday, Day 9, Prabhas' film collected Rs 12.55 crore at the Indian box office while on the second Sunday, Day 10, raked in Rs 14.50 crore net taking the total collection to Rs 344.67 crore in India. The film has reportedly collected over Rs 550 crore in the global market.
'Dunki' is a comedy-drama based on an illegal immigration technique ‘donkey flight’. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, the film also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Vikram Kochhar and Anil Grover in pivotal roles.
'Salaar' is set in the city-state of Khansaar, and it's about the friendship between Deva (Prabhas), a tribesman, and Varadha (Prithviraj). Directed by Prashanth Neel, the actioner also stars Shruti Haasan, Sriya Reddy and Jagapathi Babu among others.
