Simratt Kaur Randhawa who starred in Telugu and Tamil movies, is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer 'Gadar 2'. In the Anil Sharma-directed action drama she plays Muskan who is the love interest of Utkarsh Sharma's character. Being an outsider, Kaur had to audition for her role. Little did she know it was for 'Gadar 2' when she got a message from casting director Mukesh Chhabra and she was offered one of the lead roles in the film.
On how she bagged the role, Simratt told Outlook, ''Mukesh Chhabra messaged me the script of the movie and he said I had to audition for it. But he never mentioned it was for Gadar 2 or for a movie or a web series. I gave the audition and he asked me for two or three variations of it. I gave the audition and he said that the next day I had to go to Palampur and I had no idea for what I was going there. Then I coordinated with the team and reached Palampur. A car came to pick me up and 'Gadar 2' was written on it.
She added, ''I got even more upset thinking that if they just called me for some friend character or some side character because I never thought I can be a lead of Gadar 2. I was like 'I don't want to do my debut like this'.''
''When we reached the set, the shoot was already going on and my mom was extremely excited to see Sunny sir. But unfortunately, he was not shooting that day,'' she said.
Utkarsh took her audition and she returned to Mumbai. Later, Simratt also had to give a look test. It was after one and a half months, the diva came to know that she got the role.
When asked about her working experience with Sunny Deol, Simratt said, ''When I had my first shot with Sunny sir, I was completely numb because I couldn't believe that he is in front of me and we are going to do scenes together. On-screen Sunny sir has that charm, and off-screen too he had that and you get mesmerized. He is so charismatic that you just want to stand and see him and don't say anything.''
Recalling her biggest learning from the actor, she further added, ''I had a scene with him where I had to become very emotional and there had been several takes due to other reasons. It was very difficult for me to become emotional. Then Sunny sir told me one thing, 'If you try to do acting, it will never happen. Your effort will be visible on the screen. Feel it from your heart and whatever you feel come and do that. Don't plan anything. Do it as it comes on the spot.' This advice of his will stay with me forever''.
'Gadar 2' is all set to hit the screens on August 11.
