Two mega movies of the year- 'Gadar 2' and 'OMG 2' released in theatres on August 11. Both are sequels of blockbusters. Given the hype and promotions, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer started off with great numbers on Day 1 and Akshay Kumar's fared well too though it was unexpected.
As per a report in Sacnilk, 'Gadar 2' earned Rs 40.10 crore at the box office on its first day of release while on Day 2, it minted Rs 43 crore at the box office. So, the total collection of Anil Sharma directorial stands at Rs 83. 10 crore. The movie also stars Utkarsh Sharma, Simratt Kaur Randhawa, and Manish Wadhwa in pivotal roles.
'OMG 2' had a decent start but on Day 2, it witnessed almost a 40% spike at the box office as per a report in Sacnilk. Despite tough competition with 'Gadar 2' and 'Jailer', the film raked in Rs 14.50 crore at the ticket windows taking the two-day nett collection to Rs 24.76 crore. The movie has got positive reviews and going by word of mouth, it is expected to mint in moolah in the coming days.
As per the same website, 'OMG 2' got the maximum audience in the north belt along with Maharashtra and Chennai. Directed by Amit Rai, it is a sequel to the 2012 hit film 'OMG - Oh My God!' that starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar.
On Sunday early morning, 'Gadar 2' sold a total of 11,50,897 tickets while 'OMG 2' sold a total of 3,14,200 tickets on the same day.
