Starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is one of the most anticipated movies of 2024. After its trailer was released this year, there has been a lot of speculation regarding the theme of the film. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ director Nag Ashwin dispelled the narrative that his film is similar to ‘Star Wars.’

Nag Ashwin had recently attended an event held at IIT Bombay. At the event, he answered a lot of questions that were posed by the students regarding ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ One student asked him if this Prabhas – Deepika starrer would be India’s response to ‘Star Wars.’ The student asked, “Will the film be India’s Star Wars? Are you planning to build an entire universe around it?”

Nag Ashwin quashed this theory and said, “I don’t think so…this will be India’s K. It’s India's Project K, India's Kalki. It's one film and I think that’s enough.” Another student presented his fan theory regarding the sequel of the film, which he encouraged.

At the event, the director spilled a lot of beans about his upcoming film. He mentioned that the production crew built the weapons that were used in the film from scratch. He also said that his team had taken note of the feedback they received from the audience about the VFX of the film after the trailer was launched. Nag Ashwin reassured the audience that his team had worked on it and the final film would be better than the trailer.

Reportedly, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ was scheduled to be released in 2022 but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed it. This film would mark Deepika Padukone’s debut in Telugu cinema. The film is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English.
