Mel Schilling, popular for her appearance as a dating coach in the reality show ‘Married At First Sight’, announced that she has been diagnosed with colon cancer. Learning from her experience, she penned a long note where she urged people to take their health seriously.

In an Instagram post, she shared a picture of herself with her family and wrote how she had ignored the signs her body was giving and now she has to undergo surgery to remove a 5-centimeter tumour. She revealed that last week her consultant told her that she has cancer. She stated how she developed severe stomach cramps when she was filming in Australia.

However, she brushed it off and thought that the travel was affecting her. Her general practitioner diagnosed it as constipation and sent her off with medicines. However, she booked a scan when she returned to the UK and that is how she found out.

Putting her emotions in her Instagram caption, she wrote, “It will be so tough to spend Xmas Day in hospital instead of being surrounded by family but getting rid of Terry (what I’ve named my tumour) will be the best present of all. I just wanted to finish by saying that if something doesn’t feel right, please, please don’t ignore it and if you don’t think the answers you have got are right, keep going until you do, it might just save your life.”

Mel Schilling mentioned how she had planned to travel to Northern Ireland to spend the Christmas week with her family and loved ones. But now she has to undergo an operation to remove the tumour which, if had gone undetected could potentially prove to be fatal.
