Akshay Kumar starrer 'OMG 2' finally entered the coveted Rs 100 crore club at the box office in nine days. The movie released in theatres on August 11 with Sunny Deol's film 'Gadar 2'. 'OMG 2' was not expected to perform well but it was surprising that despite getting an 'A' certificate and facing tough competition from 'Gadar 2' and Rajinikanth's 'Jailer', it has performed well.
As per a report by Sacnilk.com, 'OMG 2' earned Rs 10.5 crore nett in India as per early estimates. So, the total domestic box office collection now stands at Rs 101.58 crore. The film minted Rs 85.05 crore in its first week at the box office. It witnessed huge growth on Saturday after earning Rs 6.03 crore nett on Friday. On Saturday, it had an overall 45.94 percent occupancy.
'OMG 2' is a sequel to the 2012 blockbuster film 'OMG – Oh My God' that starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. 'OMG 2' also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Yami Gautam and Arun Govil in pivotal roles.
In the movie, Akshay plays the messenger of Lord Shiva, Pankaj Tripathi plays Kanti Sharan Mudgal, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, while Yami Gautam is seen as a lawyer. It is about a middle-class father raising awareness about the importance of sex education. The Amit Rai directorial has got positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.
