Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' and Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' locked horns in theatres worldwide on July 21, 2023. Both the movies are of different genres but the buzz and hype have been the same. 'Oppenheimer' and 'Barbie' have got positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. But in India, in terms of box office, the Cillian Murphy starrer is performing well than 'Barbie'. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling's film opened with Rs 5 crore at the Indian box office while Murphy's film minted Rs 13.50 crore on Day 1.
Talking about the Day 2 collection of 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer', as per a report in Sacnilk, the former collected Rs 6.50 crore in India while the latter pocketed Rs 17 crore at the box office. With this, the total box office collection of 'Oppenheimer' stands at Rs 30 crore and 'Barbie's total collection is Rs 11.50 crore.
But, the box office scenario is different in the international markets. Greta's film is doing well at the global box office.
As per a report in Deadline, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling's 'Barbie' earned 41.4 million USD in 51 international markets. While 'Oppenheimer' earned 15.7 million USD across its 57 markets.
'Oppenheimer' is based on the Pulitzer Prize–winning biography American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer. It also stars Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh among others. 'Barbie' also features Ariana Greenblatt, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emma Mackey, and others apart from Ryan and Margot.
