The Prabhas-starrer ‘Salaar’ was released in the theatres on December 22, and the film started off its box office journey by making Rs 90.7 crore on day one. However, in just a week’s time, the collections of the film have dropped by over 85%. On Thursday. On its seventh day in theatres, the film only managed to collect Rs 13.5 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The latest collection takes the Prabhas' film's nett domestic collection to Rs 308.9 crore.
Coming to its first Thursday, the film saw 21% occupancy in Telugu markets, which remains to be the main market for the film’s lead star, Prabhas. In Hyderabad, ‘Salaar’ had 638 shows with an occupancy of 24.75%. As for the Hindi-speaking market, ‘Salaar’ is facing competition from Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’, and it saw an occupancy of 20.52%. The film had 637 shows in the Delhi-NCR region and 441 shows in the Mumbai region, with an occupancy of 23.75% and 18.25%, respectively.
Meanwhile, as for its gross mark worldwide, ‘Salaar’ crossed Rs 500 crore mark on Thursday. It has now become the seventh film of the year to join the Rs 500 crore club, post the release of ‘Pathaan’, ‘Jawan’, ‘Jailer’, ‘Leo’, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Animal’. The film had made Rs 175 crore globally on the first day itself, which means it raked in a total of Rs 325 crore through the rest of the week.
To say the least, the film also marks a huge comeback for its lead actor Prabhas, who has not had a big hit since 2017’s ‘Baahubali 2’ despite starring in big-budget projects like ‘Saaho’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Adipurush’. Prabhas would next feature in ‘Kalki 2898’ AD, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and others.
Directed by Prashanth Neel, ‘Salaar’ also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Sriya Reddy, Shruti Haasan and Tinnu Anand in key roles. The film’s second part, which is titled ‘Salaar Part 2 Shouryanga Parvam,’ is yet to come up with a release date. Prashanth Neel previously helmed the Yash-starrer ‘KGF’ films, which collectively made nearly Rs 1500 crore in India.
