Vicky Kaushal is getting praise from all corners for his portrayal of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in ‘Sam Bahadur’, which is helmed by Meghna Gulzar. While the film witnessed a slow start at the box office due to the simultaneous release of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, the film has been getting critical acclaim.
Now as per a report in industry tracing website Sacnilk, the film has earned Rs 3.25 crore on day eight, taking its total domestic box office collections to Rs 42.05 crore. As for the film’s worldwide gross earnings, they now stand at Rs 53.8 crore.
On Friday, the Vicky Kaushal-starrer saw an overall 28.17 percent Hindi occupancy, with Pune ranking number one with 48.25 percent occupancy. It was followed by Mumbai with 30.50 percent occupancy and Delhi NCR with 28 percent.
Nonetheless, the film has got mostly positive reviews from film critics, it suffered at the box office due to the release of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, which is proving to be unbeatable at the box office. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s crime thriller has already collected Rs 563.03 crore worldwide, and will cross the Rs 600 crore mark at the worldwide box office by this weekend.
Coming back to ‘Sam Bahadur’, the film opened with Rs 6.25 crore on day one, and on its second day (Saturday, December 2) the film collected Rs 9 crore. The film followed it up with Rs 10.03 crore on Sunday. However, after that the film’s earnings seem to have dropped to around Rs 3 and 3.5 crore.
The film is a biopic of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw who is often referred to as the greatest soldier of independent India. Along with Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Sheikh.
Recently, Vicky took to social media to share a behind-the-scenes anecdote, and thanked his fans for all the love. He wrote, “Makeup on, listen to his favourite jazz music and stare into that mirror till I start believing the guy in the mirror is Sam. Living your days believing to be SAM is a rare honour and a mammoth responsibility. The love you all are showering for our efforts is truly gratifying. Thank you!”
