Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Tejas' created a lot of buzz before its release. It was one of the most anticipated movies. Starring Kangana in the titular role of Indian Air Force pilot Tejas Gill, the film released in theatres on October 27. Given the buzz and the hype, it failed to live up to the expectations. 'Tejas' opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences. It had a slow start at the box office on day 1 as it collected a single-digit number.
Kangana's aerial action film received a lukewarm response on its opening day. As per Sacnilk, the film earned only Rs 1.25 crore on its first day of release as per early estimates. The same portal also reported that it had an overall occupancy of 6.83 percent on Friday. Night shows had an occupancy of 10.62%
'Tejas' is set in 2016 and Kangana as the female fighter pilot goes on a rescue mission to free an Indian spy who is a hostage under fanatic Islamists. It shows her journey as an IAF pilot and facing challenges and hurdles while fighting for the nation.
The film has been written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara and produced By Ronnie Screwvala. Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vishak Nair, Kashyap Shangari, Sunit Tandon, Rio Kapadia, Mohan Agashe and Mushtaq Kak are in pivotal roles.
