‘The Golden Bachelor’ saw its first-ever wedding. Scripting history, Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist exchanged vows on the reality television dating show. Their wedding was aired in a live special on the show.
Gerry Turner had proposed to Theresa Nist during the finale of ‘The Golden Bachelor.’ During the finale, he chose Theresa over 21 other contestants. Turner is 72 and Nist is 70. Their California wedding was aired in a two-hour special episode which was titled – ‘The Golden Wedding.’ At the wedding, the couple exchanged vows, paid tributes to their late spouses, and had their first dance as a newlywed couple.
CNN quoted Gerry Turner saying, “I have a whole new outlook on life because of this journey and because of this woman. I’d almost forgotten the really important advice, don’t stop believing.” He was ecstatic to find love once again.
Theresa Nist said, “I started believing that there could be something between us. And I witnessed you being the most wonderful, kind, sensitive human being. Just a man of honor and integrity. And I grew to love you. And I do Gerry, I do love you.”
Theresa walked down the aisle with her son, Tom. Her daughter, Jen, was the maid of honor. Gerry’s son-in-law served as his best man. The couple met on the show and connected because of their similar story of grief. Gerry had lost his wife to a bacterial infection. Theresa lost her husband to kidney failure. They formed a lifelong connection on the show.
Gerry and Theresa’s wedding was available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+ from January 5 onwards. Additionally, the ‘The Golden Wedding’ episode can also be viewed on YouTube TV, AT&T TV, FuboTV, and Hulu Live TV.
