Bollywood films have been seeing female-driven movies take a turn for the good in the past decade. The age-old tropes of revenge-laden films have given way to some of the most highly intrinsic content-driven films when it comes to actresses leading from the front. Even this year, there are a few films where actresses are taking charge and not just leading the film’s story but also carrying the weight of the entire plot on their shoulders.

Here are a few such actresses who’re not shying away from demanding their rightful place at the top of the leaderboard:

Kangana Ranaut (‘Emergency’)

India's infamous political episode of the state-led 'Emergency' shall be depicted on-screen wherein Kangana Ranaut shall be seen playing India's ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. This shall be the first time a full-fledged film shall capture the essence of the much-talked-about incident. The first look of the look has garnered a stupendous response from the audiences, and knowing Kangana Ranaut, she wouldn’t leave any stone unturned to make sure the movie is not just entertaining but even laden with some of the finest performances.

Anushka Sharma (‘Chakda Express’)

Post her sabbatical, Anushka Sharma is all set to deliver a stellar performance in 'Chakda Express.' Well, that’s what the stills from the shoot tell. Anushka shall be seen playing Indian skipper Jhulan Goswami, who had been one of the very few cricketers who had such a long career. The film not only shows the cricketing life of Jhulan Goswami but also shows the hardships that she faced in order to make her big debut on the cricket field.
