Who hasn’t watched ‘Animal’ yet? Almost the entire country has seen the massive blockbuster. Even if the film has earned enormous amounts of money, there is a section of society that hasn’t liked the film as much. Many have called the content misogynistic. Among the numerous people who’ve watched the film, is also Abhishek Duhan. The actor recently watched Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’ and says that he loved the film as it showed us a larger-than-life side of human nature. He adds that human beings tend to control their feelings, but when, on screen, we see someone who comes out of his shell, we love it.
“Congratulations to the team ‘Animal’ for getting such rave reviews. I am happy that as an industry, we are able to thrill the audience, even the teenagers. We must notice this keeps improving. I think we all suppress our emotions somewhere in our life so when they see a character coming out of his cocoon and expressing his anger emotions freely, they like the idea,” he says.
As for people taking inspiration from the violence shown, he says that will not happen. “We all know that it’s for entertainment purposes only. I think cinema is about showing more and not less. We are all aware of that,” he says.
It’s true that ‘Animal’ has got some massively mixed reactions but if the majority of people did not like the film, would the film have earned over Rs 800 Crore at the box-office?
The ongoing debate reminds me of what Manoj Bajpayee had once said in an interview with Mid Day when asked about misogynistic content after the success of ‘Kabir Singh’. He had said, “If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. But don’t stop the creators from expressing themselves. Films don’t change society. Films just change your hairstyle.”
