After Rashmika Mandanna, Katrina Kaif and Kajol, actress Alia Bhatt has become the latest victim of a deepfake video. An obscene video of the 'Darlings' actress with her morphed face has gone viral on social media.
With the use of AI, Alia's face is edited over a different woman making her look indecent. It shows the lady dressed in a blue floral co-ord set with Alia's face on it, making lewd gestures and looking at the camera.
'Animal' actress Rashmika Mandanna was the first celeb to fall prey to a deepfake video. The video showed a woman dressed in a black yoga bodysuit, whose face was morphed as the actress, entering an elevator as she smiled for the camera. Katrina's morphed picture from 'Tiger 3's towel fight scene also went viral all over the internet. The morphed image showed her in a different and altered outfit, making her look indecent. Kajol's deepfake video showed her changing clothes.
The cases of deepfake videos are increasing at an alarming rate. Earlier, when Rashmika Mandanna's video went viral, B-town celebs like Amitabh Bachchan and Mrunal Thakur expressed their concern.
The Indian government has issued an advisory to major social media platforms, urging swift action against morphed pic and videos and asking to remove all the misleading content within 36 hours of a complaint.
Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that deepfakes are one of the biggest threats faced by the country and they can cause chaos in society. He also urged the media to educate people on deepfakes. Modi also said that Indian citizens and the media need to be very vigilant.
Coming back to Alia Bhatt, she won the Best Actor, Web Original Film (Female) for her Netflix debut, 'Darlings'.
