Angelina Jolie recently got candid about her Bell’s Palsy diagnosis, her separation from Brad Pitt and more during an interaction with The Wall Street Journal Magazine. Talking about her current state of mind, the actress mentioned how she ‘lost the ability to live and travel’ freely after the divorce.
For the unversed, Angelina Jolie separated from Pitt in 2016, and they got involved in an acrimonious legal battle for the custody of their children.
Talking about her mental state, the actress mentioned how she is ‘a bit down these days’, and added, “I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way. Which I don’t want to get into.” She further added how her body now reacts strongly to stress. She said, “My blood sugar goes up and down. I suddenly had Bell’s palsy six months before my divorce.”
Angeline Jolie further mentioned how she can’t have ‘a social life’ in Hollywood, because every time gets out, she attracts attention. “I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity,” she stated.
Angeline Jolie called her six children – Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 18, Shiloh, 17, and 15-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne – her ‘closest friends’. She said, “We had to heal. There are things we needed to heal from.” The actress mentioned how her close female friends offered their support as well. “I realised my closest friends are refugees. Maybe four out of six of the women that I am close to are from war and conflict.”
Post her separation from Brad Pitt, the actress has featured in only four live-action films, and is currently filming the biopic of the opera singer Maria Callas.
