‘The Rapist’, left a profound impact on the audience, evoking strong emotions. The entire team was honored with a standing ovation post the screening. Aparna Sen was deeply moved by the appreciation and she expressed her gratitude, saying, "I want to thank everyone for being here today. I also urge you to share your thoughts about this film with others outside this room. The title might initially discourage some from watching it, but 'The Rapist' delves into the complex psychology of why individuals commit such heinous acts. It explores how a child, born into this world, nurtured by a mother, can grow up to become a rapist. What societal factors contribute to this tragic outcome?"

On the choice of the film's title, she said, "We had extensive debates on the title, considering various suggestions. However, I chose 'The Rapist' because it is direct and hard-hitting. The film, though, does not dwell on explicit details of rape. This subject has intrigued me for a long time."

'The Rapist' is a story of two college professors Naina and Aftab who are happily married to each other, and one fateful night Naina is violently raped, followed by a series of interrogations, and trauma. Naina is deal with the ‘rape victim’ tag, but she also introspects over society, and her marriage and decides to confront her rapist within four walls only to leave the audience hooked.

Aparna Sen has also written the film. It is produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Quest Films.
