It would be not wrong to say that in the past few years, OTT star Barkha Singh has emerged as a formidable talent. She has left the audience and her fans impressed with her memorable characters and portrayals across several platforms and forms of storytelling. Most of us know her as the one of the biggest stars that the web space has seen and, she can actually be called as the first ‘born on web’, when it was not even mainstream.

She was last seen in the film ‘Maja Ma’ alongside Madhuri Dixit Nene, and was applauded for her role. Apart from ‘Maja Ma’, she has also earned a name for herself with her work in films such as ‘Silence... Can You Hear It?’, ‘House Arrest’, ‘Please Find Attached’ among others. Not to miss, she took on the role of Aisha in 'Masaba Masaba 2' and was seen in 'Murder Meri Jaan' as well.

During a chat with Outlook, the actress opened up on her choice of roles and how she tries to remain versatile. She shared, "You need to earn your stripes. I try to challenge myself every time because one knows the kind of performance one is capable of. Till they don’t see it, they may not imagine you in it the way you can as there are always safer options that are tried and tested.”

On being asked about her vision going further, “In terms of my vision, while I am very happy continuing to do the kind of roles that people and markets have happily accepted me doing and given me a lot of love for, the actor in me feels ready now to break the mould and put out performances that would surprise people. For them to see me in avatars or in characters that they would have never even imagined me in, whether it is a biopic or an unconventional dark character with gravitas and I think I am ready for that because I know I can bring that to the table.”

Well, as she continues to captivate audiences with her performances, Barkha Singh certainly knows that in the digital realm, versatility reigns supreme.

Meanwhile, she has a pipeline of projects she is working on for the coming year. She will also reportedly feature in Angad Bedi-starrer legal drama titled 'A Legal Affair', which is official Hindi adaptation of the hit Korean series 'Suspicious Partner', and has been shot extensively in Delhi and Mumbai.
