At the Indian box office, after witnessing a wonderful opening weekend, ‘Oppenheimer’ did witness a dip on Monday in India. According to a Sacnilk.com, the film, which made ₹7 crore on day four of its release, entered the ₹50 crore club in India.
The biographical drama on the theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, helmed by Christopher Nolan, has Cillian Murphy play the role of Oppenheimer. The film also stars Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh.
Not to miss, the film minted ₹14.5 crore on day one of its release, and followed it up with ₹17 crore on the second day and ₹17.25 crore on the third day.
Globally, ‘Oppenheimer’ witnessed Christopher Nolan’s third-highest-grossing opening weekend ever, and the film also saw the biggest global day and date opening weekend ever for a biopic, thereby surpassing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
Now coming to ‘Barbie’, which clashed at the box office with ‘Oppenheimer’, is the first ever live-action Barbie film, and follows the life of Barbie and Ken as they head on a path of self-discovery. Apart from Margot Robbie and Ryan Reynolds, the film also stars America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.
As per Sacnilk.com, the film, which had opened at ₹5 crore, showed steady growth of about 30 percent on Saturday with a collection of ₹6.5 crore. While it rose to ₹7.15 crore on Sunday, the collections of ‘Barbie’ dropped to ₹2.5 crore on Monday. The film now stands at an estimated number of ₹21.15 crore.
Nonetheless, the ‘Barbenheimer’ did prove to be a success at the box office.
