On January 16 KST, K-Pop idol IU unveiled the poster of the much-anticipated music video with BTS' V for her upcoming comeback song 'Love Wins.'
While the announcement of it excited fans, there was also a section of society that was unhappy with the song title and its poster, which showcases the two renowned idols sitting across each other at a table. The poster reads, "to the place that can't be reached with my poor imagination" and also features the actress taking a video of the 'Rainy Days' singer at a mysterious place.
When the poster was revealed, along with praise came some backlash specifically from the LGBTQ+ community with regards to the title of the song 'Love Wins.' Many have stated that by using this phrase, which has been associated with pride parades for the longest time, in the context of heterosexual content might lessen its significance.
Critics have come out and spoken against the song title, however, on the flip side, many others have voiced that such criticism is extremely unnecessary. They took the stance that several other songs are already titled 'Love Wins,' and that, the phrase, in its literal sense, symbolizes the universal concept of love winning over hate and prejudice.
There is also a third group of people who are advising against making quick opinions about the song, stating that just because there is a man and a woman in the poster, doesn't necessarily mean there's anything heterosexual in or about the song.
But, we will be clear of all this when the song and its music video will drop on all streaming platforms on January 24, 2024 at 6 PM KST (2:30 PM IST).
