A video of actor Nana Patekar went viral on social media where he was apparently seen losing his cool and whacking a fan. The fan was trying to take a selfie with the actor. He was shooting for his upcoming film with Anil Sharma.
As per news agency PTI, the video is from Varanasi where the actor was shooting for 'Journey' with director Anil Sharma and his son-actor Utkarsh Sharma. Nana was in a suit and a hat, getting ready to shoot a scene when the fan came to him to get a selfie. Nana who looked angry smacked him on the rear side of his head. A man present in the crowd grabbed the boy by his neck and took him away.
Post the video went viral, Nana was criticised for hitting the fan. Netizens slammed him for his behaviour and called it 'rude'.
Filmmaker Anil Sharma has now issued a clarification. He told Aaj Tak, ''I have just come to know about this news. I was watching the same video just now. Nana has not hit anyone, rather that is a shot from my film. We were filming it on the road in the middle of Banaras, where a boy who comes near Nana has to be hit on the head. Shooting was going on and Nana also hit him.”
The 'Gadar' director said that the crowd that had gathered around to watch the shoot recorded it on their phone and people are now misinterpreting the video.
“But the crowd gathered there recorded it on their mobile cameras and then leaked the shot of the film. Now, Nana is being projected as a negative and rude actor on social media, which is completely wrong. Through Aaj Tak, I would request that the fans understand the truth of this video. This is a shot from the film. Nana has not hit anyone,” he added.
Recently, Patekar shared pictures from Varanasi with Anil Sharma and the team of the film. Utkarsh was also present.
