Falaq Naaz says that she feels so good when the festive season begins. There is so much to look forward to, she says.

“The festival season has definitely begun, and I always feel great when festivals suddenly start after a few months, the beginning of the year. And I think this is why India is known for various types of festivals and celebrates them with a lot of enthusiasm. It definitely uplifts the mood during this festive season. Whether you want it or not, somewhere, you end up getting involved, either due to invitations for festivals like Ganpati or Diwali. So, it brings happiness and temporarily helps people forget their sorrows or worries and brings positivity in lives, which is a beautiful aspect of our country, where we have so many festivals, and we all celebrate them together,” she says.

Spending festivals with happy people is a must, she says, adding, “Having good company is essential, but I believe that sometimes you also build new relationships during the festive season. I have experienced this personally, where I went to a Diwali party with one friend and ended up making another friend. So, it’s the time when you meet new people, recognize them, have conversations, and enjoy some light moments. Company is important, but I think new relationships are also formed during the festive season.”

She adds, “As for my favourite festival, each festival has its own significance and beauty. If I had to choose, the most enjoyable one is probably Diwali. There are many Diwali parties, and it’s the one time of the year when people make an effort to meet each other. Durga Puja and Ganesh Chaturthi also have their own charm. I’m fascinated by observing and understanding different cultures and traditions. So, this entire festive season is beautiful for me. Every time, you get to see or understand something different, and it’s enriching. I have visited many pandals and experienced happiness around.”

Festivals have lost their personal touch, she says, adding, “I still feel that in smaller towns, there is a tradition of personal meetups during festivals. People there don’t solely rely on WhatsApp, and it depends on individuals how much priority they give to such interactions. Some people directly call you and invite you to their homes, and I belong to the category that prefers celebrating face-to-face rather than just sending wishes through WhatsApp. It’s true that in today’s date, people have become very dependent on technology, and they don’t make much effort.”

She says, “But I believe that’s why festivals come every year. Try putting in a little effort, whether by hosting or being a guest, and you’ll experience a great feeling. This is the beauty of festivals, and it’s a time when everyone comes together. I think that by making a bit of effort, people can find happiness, and it can bring back the childhood joy we used to experience. It’s in our hands to continue the tradition that our elders started. If we make a little more effort, I believe the tradition will live on. So, I wish everyone an advanced Happy Diwali and Dussehra and hope that this year’s festive season brings joy to everyone. I’ll pray for that.”
