As per a report on Global News, a well-known Quebec-based film industry entrepreneur Daniel Langlois and his partner, Dominique Marchand were found dead in the Caribbean on the island of Dominica, where they owned a luxury resort. Multiple French language news networks reported that they were found inside a burned vehicle on Friday after going missing for several days. The couple had opened an off-grid hotel on the same island back in 2022.

As per a statement sent to Global News, Global Affairs Canada’s media relations officer Marilyne Guèvremont said, “Our hearts are with the families and loved ones of the Canadian citizens involved.” There were no further reports given out.

Canadian officials are continuing to keep a check on the entire situation while the local authorities are working on the ground. The local police have taken 3 people into custody in suspected connection to the deaths.

For the unversed, Daniel Langlois gained almost $200 million in 1994 when he sold Softimage, his 3D animation software firm that he created in 1986. It was one of the biggest animation software companies of that time. ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘Titanic’, ‘Lord Of The Rings’, ‘Harry Potter’, and ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ all used the software created by the firm. Later on, Microsoft bought the firm, but the firm stayed in Montreal itself. Soon afterwards, Daniel Langlois went on to found Ex-Centris in 1999. He also co-founded the Festival du nouveau cinema. Not to forget he established a foundation in his own name which went on to assist technology-related initiatives in numerous fields of arts and sciences.

As per reports, Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand kept going to the Caribbean Island and living there for many years now. They had opened a self-sustaining luxury Coulibri Ridge eco-resort. The resort which was just about a year old had even won an award shortly after opening up.
