'Abundance in Millets', a song featuring PM Narendra Modi bagged a nomination in the Best Global Music Performance category at the 2024 Grammy Awards. The song is created by Indian-American Grammy-winning singer Falu (Falguni Shah) and her husband and singer Gaurav Shah and it talks about the importance of millets in the country's progress. It was released in June this year.

Falu told PTI, "Prime Minister Modi has written a song with me and my husband Gaurav Shah''.

She also said the idea to write a song about the cereal came when she met Modi in Delhi last year after winning the Grammy and he suggested to her she should write a song with a message about ending hunger during their discussion on the power of music to bring change and uplift humanity.

Falu also added that she "naively" asked PM Modi if he could write a song on millets.

For the unversed, the United Nations declared 2023 the International Year of Millets, and since then there have been efforts to promote the cereal.

The US-based organisation behind the Grammy Awards, The Recording Academy, on Friday, said that 'Abundance in Millets' has been nominated in the best global music performance category.

Other nominees in the category include: Arooj Aftab, Vijay Iyer & Shahzad Ismaily's 'Shadow Forces', Burna Boy's 'Alone', Davido 's 'Feel', Silvana Estrada - 'Milagro Y Disastre', Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer & Zakir Hussain ft. Rakesh Chaurasia's 'Pashto' and 'Todo Colores'  by Ibrahim Maalouf ft. Cimafunk & Tank and the Bangas.

Grammy Awards 2024 will take place in Los Angeles on February 4.
