The list of nominees for the 2023 International Emmy Awards, featuring 56 nominees from 20 countries across 14 categories, have finally been unveiled. And guess what? Indian stars Jim Sarbh, Shefali Shah and Vir Das have made the cut by securing a nomination.
Shefali Shah has bagged a nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress category for her performance in the Netflix web series ‘Delhi Crime Season 2’. Other nominees in her category are Denmark’s Connie Nielsen, UK’s Billie Piper and Mexico’s Karla Souza.
Coming to Jim Sarbh, he has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor category, with credits for his act in SonyLIV web series Rocket Boys. He shares the Emmy nomination in his category with Argentina’s Gustavo Bassani, UK’s Martin Freeman and Sweden’s Jonas Karlsson.
As for comedian and actor Vir Das, he has also been nominated for his Netflix comedy special titled Vir Das: Landing. He shares the nomination with France’s Le Flambeau, Argentina’s El Encargado and UK’s popular comedy show Derry Girls Season 3.
On his International Emmy nomination, Jim Sarbh issued a statement which read as, “I am overwhelmed and excited to be nominated under the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards for my portrayal of Dr. Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys. It is an honor to be recognised amongst such talented individuals from across the world. This nomination is a testament to the hard-working, dedicated, and extremely talented cast and crew, who brought the incredible story of Dr. Sarabhai and Dr. Bhabha to life. I loved working on Rocket Boys, a project that salutes India’s scientists, artistes, and leaders, the pioneers of a newly birthed nation.”
Meanwhile, Ektaa Kapoor is all set to get a prestigious International Emmy Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards Gala, which is slated to take place on November 20, 2023, in New York City.
As for Rocket Boys, it showcased the lives of Indian nuclear physicists Homi J Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai with Jim Sarbh portraying the role of scientist Dr. Homi J. Bhabha. Delhi Crime Season 2 is a crime drama centered around the Chaddi Baniyan Gang, with Shefali Shah in the role of IPS officer Vartika Chaturvedi.
