Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' has been in the news since Karan Johar announced it on social media. With this film, Karan is making a comeback as director after a hiatus. The trailer of the film released a few days back and it received mixed reactions from the audience. Post the release of 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' trailer, Karan Johar faced a severe backlash from a section of netizens as they felt that in one of the scenes of the trailer he "disrespected" Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

In the film, Alia Bhatt's character Rani belongs to a Bengali family. In the trailer, when Ranveer's character Rocky comes to her place to stay for three months, he sees a portrait of Rabindranath Tagore, whom he identifies as Rani's grandfather. Not in good taste," wrote a user while one wrote, "Maybe he thought just showing lavish sets, rich clothes will be more than enough for the audience." One user wrote, "So Bollywood is never going to learn from the past. How can you mock Rabindranath Tagore! Disrespecting a man of his stature is highly unacceptable."
