Miss Teen Diva concluded its finale recently. Total 35 finalists competed for the ultimate four titles of - Miss Teen Grand India, Miss Teen World India, Miss Teen Universe India and Miss Teen International India. One of the four gorgeous ladies crowned that night was our Miss Teen World India 2023 - Karemma Khan.
Hailing from the city of dreams Mumbai, Karemma believes she's an amalgamation of influences from Oman and Dubai. Belonging to a conservative Muslim family, Karemma's journey to the crown was full of criticisms and backlash from her family. The biggest challenge she faced in her journey was her conservative background that tried to stop her from pursuing pageantry and acting as a career. However, she managed to breakthrough the chains that held her, and made it this far.
Talking to Prateek Sur, Karemma Khan talks about being one of the four winners of the Miss Teen Diva. When asked about how she prepared for this win and what this win means to her, she couldn’t stop herself and burst out with emotions.
“This win is truly a dream come true for me. Not just my dream, but the dream of my mother and all the innocent girls I work for, through my Project Shakti. This crown is not just an opportunity, but a responsibility to me. My preparation and hard work for the pageant has been immense. I have always had my eyes on the crown. And picturing my winning moment, with the crown on my head is the factor that motivated me to keep going. From waking up at 4am every day, working out twice a day, going for pageant training, managing my college lectures – I’ve really done it all. I carried on this routine for 3-4 months before the pageant. In all honesty, it has been very challenging. But, as they say, ‘Work hard in silence and let your success make all the noise’.”
Not many would know that apart from winning the title of Miss Teen World India, she also bagged the subtitles of ‘Best In Personal Interview’ and ‘Best Advocacy Video’.
At the pageant, during her final question and answer round, she was asked, "What qualities in you make you worthy of representing India internationally?"
Her winning answer was, “Thank you so much for the lovely question. A very good evening, ladies and gentlemen. I believe the qualities that make me the appropriate representative for India at teen pageantry would number 1 be, my ability to never stop learning. I know that this crown comes with a lot of responsibilities. But also, the potential to always be able to learn, unlearn and relearn. Secondly, my ability to always have a positive mindset. To always look at every single situation with a silver lining. And lastly, my power of manifestation. I have wanted this crown, worked hard towards it. Followed the 3 D’s, that is: determination, dedication and discipline. Which is why I am standing in front of all of you today. And I believe these qualities make me the perfect candidate and representative for India. Thank you so much.”
