Actress Lakshmika Sajeevan became a household name after she portrayed the character of Panjami in the massively viral short film ‘Kaakka’. As per reports she died earlier today after suffering a massive heart attack in Sharjah. Despite being part of some of the most popular films, she was working there in a bank. She was just 24.
Her breakthrough performance as Panjami in ‘Kaakka’ was something that not many other actresses would have been able to pull off. She had played the character of a young dark-skinned girl who had protruding teeth. It was because of this that she had to face numerous hardships. Her physical appearance caused problems for her. Lakshmika Sajeevan went on to portray the character with so much conviction that for a long time people used to think that her protruding teeth in the film were actually real. The film spoke about how people judge others in society based on their physical appearance. The film, which was directed by Aju Ajeesh, had been released on YouTube during Covid.
As per a report on OnManorama, Lakshmika Sajeevan had said in an interview where she had accepted that she felt that she might not be able to do justice to the character of Panjami in ‘Kaakka’ which made her such a popular name. “The role was supposed to be essayed by another actor. When I landed the role, I was pretty unsure if I would be able to essay Panjami’s role well. I also took some time to get used to the makeup for the short film. However, I was surprised by the acceptance my character received,” she had said back then.
For the unversed, Lakshmika Sajeevan was the daughter of Limitta and Sajeev of Vazhavelil house, Kacheripady in Palluruthy. Besides ‘Kaakka’, she gained popularity by playing characters in films like ‘Oru Yamandan Premakatha’, ‘Panchavarna Thatha’, ‘Saudi Vellakka’, ‘Puzhayamma’, ‘Uyare’, ‘Oru Kuttanadan Blog’ and ‘Nithyaharitha Nayakan’.
