After ‘Friends' actor Matthew Perry passed away in October last year, multiple theories about his death started circulating on social media. The Los Angeles Police Department had started an investigation into his death. Recently, the authorities announced that they have decided to officially conclude their investigation into the actor’s death.
The Los Angeles Police Department announced that they have decided to cease further investigation. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner also closed the case. They took to their website to put out a statement. The actor had breathed his last at his Los Angeles residence at the age of 54. A spokesperson from the Los Angeles Fire Department had revealed that they responded to a medical emergency call at 4:07 PM on that day.
The autopsy report of Matthew Perry revealed that the actor passed away due to the acute effects of ketamine. The report also listed drowning, coronary artery disease, and buprenorphine effects (a medication used to treat opioid use disorder) as contributing factors that led to his death.
The report revealed that the actor was reportedly clean for 19 months and had undergone ketamine infusion therapy. It revealed that his last therapy session was just one and a half weeks before his death. The medical examiner mentioned that the ketamine found in the actor’s body could not be attributed to therapy. He said, “The ketamine in his system at death could not be from that infusion therapy, since ketamine's half-life is 3 to 4 hours or less.” His death was determined to be accidental.
Matthew Perry’s demise sent shockwaves amongst his fans and his co-stars. The ‘Friends’ actors penned emotional farewell notes for him after his death.
