Actress Manisha Koirala has reunited with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali for 'Heeramandi'. The first look of the movie was unveiled a couple of months back and we were just mesmerised to see six women leading the project. Manisha is reuniting with SLB after 26 years. In 1996, Bhansali made his directorial debut with the musical romance, 'Khamoshi' that also starred Salman Khan. The film received lots of appreciation and it also bagged the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Film.
Recently, in an interview with Outlook, Manisha opened up about working with the 'Bajirao Mastani' director after such a long time. She was all praise for him.
Manisha called it a 'total honour and pleasure' to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She added, "He is a maestro and a genius and I love working with him. It's a huge thing for any actor to work with a genius director like him."
Meanwhile, Bhansali won the Best Director award for 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' at the 68th Filmfare Awards. While Alia Bhatt won Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for the same movie.
Talking about 'Heeramandi', the magnum opus also stars Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Shaikh. It will showcase the story of the courtesans of Lahore and is set in pre-independent India. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial will release on streaming giant Netflix.
