Margot Robbie stole hearts with her portrayal of Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Birds of Prey.’ But now the character has been passed on to Lady Gaga. The singer is set to play the iconic role in ‘Joker: Folie á Deux.’ At the Golden Globes Award pre-show, Margot Robbie revealed how she feels about Lady Gaga playing her character.
Speaking at the Golden Globe Awards pre-show to Variety, Margot Robbie revealed that she is excited to see Lady Gaga play Harley Quinn. She added that she believes Lady Gaga would nail the role. She added that she had not talked to the singer about the role yet because she wanted to see her in the movie. She said, “She’s going to crush it! She’s going to be amazing. I actually haven’t spoken to her about it. I almost don’t want to know so I can save it for a surprise when I see the movie.”
In an earlier interview, Margot Robbie revealed what she thinks about Harley Quinn. She mentioned that Harley Quinn is iconic and the character can be played in multiple ways.
She said that she “always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless.”
Directed by Todd Phillips, ‘Joker: Folie á Deux’ also stars Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz. The film is set to release on October 4.
