Actress Mrunal Thakur recently attended and made her much awaited debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. She was in the French Riviera from May 17-19. After serving a few stellar pre-Cannes looks, she made her red carpet debut in a custom Falguni Shane Peacock ivory gown featuring ruffles, feathers, and cut-outs.
Now, as the actress is back from her Cannes sojourn, she talked about her debut and her much-loved outfit at the Cannes red carpet, in an exclusive chat with Gurpreet Kaur of Outlook India. Excerpts from the interview:
How Do You Feel To Be Walking The Cannes Red Carpet Considering It’s Your Debut?
Cannes film festival is an incredibly prestigious platform and this being my debut meant the world to me. It was really amazing to collaborate with Falguni and Shane and that’s all thanks to Grey Goose for bringing us together. They’re known peculiarly for their signature style, the feather, the intricate bead works they do and we felt that nobody other than them could do justice when it came to glamour personified. I wanted to do something classic with a modern twist, something chic and eternal and hence, we chose the colour white.
How Was It To Be Dressed In An Ensemble By Falguni And Shane Peacock, The Duo Who Is Known For Their Eclectic Designs?
It felt great to be dressed by them. This was my first time wearing their design. This outfit was custom made for me, for my body and they came up with the idea of embracing my body type and hence this design. They wanted to celebrate my best feature. Hence, the choice of colour white which they felt would compliment my face, my features, also considering the carpet is red. This was the first time I wore a white gown, they wanted to make a look that is glamorous. They wanted to make it grand and big as it was my debut, with unique cutouts and embellishments, ruffles and the feathers. This complemented with the min jewellery and minimal make up, nude lips and the dewy make up.
Also, You Are Known For Your Sartorial Sense. What Was Your Idea Of Your Cannes Debut And How Close Do You Feel To It Now With The Outfit?
When it comes to fashion and me. I want the outfit to be worn by me. And not be worn by the outfit. It should be effortless and something that I’m truly comfortable in. And also paying a nod to current fashion trends. It was my debut hence, I wanted the looks to be truly me, you should be able to carry that outfit and be gracious with a lot of confidence.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Mrunal is currently filming for her next major south project, 'Nani 30', and will soon be seen in the lead role in films including 'Pooja Meri Jaan', 'Pippa' and 'Lust Stories 2'.
