Recently, actor Siddharth was in Bengaluru to promote his latest film ‘Chithha’. It was on September 28 the actor walked out of the press conference of his film after members of a pro-Kannada organisation walked in and disrupted the event. They wanted to halt the event and also insisted Siddharth should express support for the Cauvery movement. This led the actor to walk out of the press meet with folded hands.

Actors Prakash Raj and Shiva Rajkumar have apologised to Siddharth. In a video Rajkumar was seen apologising to the 'Rang De Basanti' actor. His apology is translated as, "Today, on behalf of my industry, I would like to say very sorry to Mr Siddharth. I am very hurt and such a mistake will never happen again. Kannada people are good people, they love all films and all languages. It's only the people of Karnataka who watch all kinds of films."

Over the unfortunate incident, Prakash Raj extended an apology to Siddharth on X (previously Twitter) as he wrote, “Instead of questioning all the political parties and its leaders for failing to solve this decades old issue.. instead of questioning the useless parliamentarians who are not pressurising the centre to intervene.. Troubling the common man and Artists like this can not be accepted.. as a Kannadiga .. on behalf of Kannadigas. (folding hands emoji) sorry #Siddharth #justasking.”

For the unversed, there have been protests in Karnataka over the release of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu after the Supreme Court refused to interfere in the decisions of the Cauvery Water Management Authority(CWMA) and its assisting body Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) that directed the state to do so.
