Filmmaker Prashanth Neel is very grateful for the audiences who are loving his latest project 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire.' The film, which features Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has been breaking the box office.
Revealing some anecdotes from the film in an interview with Pinkvilla, the filmmaker said the lead character from the film is inspired by the portrayal of an angry young man, very similar to the roles Amitabh Bachchan has played in his career.
He said, “Yes, I drew inspiration from that era for sure, but I also tend to write in a way where my hero has to be my biggest villain. I always make that a rule and then start writing. So probably that is how it reflects. At the time being, both the movies ('KGF' and 'Salaar'), both the characters they have similarities that they turn out to be the biggest villains. They have to look like it at least.”
The movie 'Salaar' sees the two actors, Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, in a friends-turned-enemies trope. Set in the fictional city of Khansaar, the storyline revolves around Deva (played by Prabhas) and Varadha (played by Prithviraj). Described by Hombale Films as an "extraordinary tale of rebellion filled with power-packed action and impactful music," the film also boasts a cast which includes Shruthi Haasan, Tinu Anand, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy, and Garuda Ram.
The film has now almost reached the Rs. 350 crore mark at the domestic office, within nine days of its release. Talking about Prabhas' reaction to the success of the film, Prashanth said, "I mean he (Prabhas) is absolutely over the moon, with something like this. His reaction is euphoric."
Upon being asked about 'Salaar: Part 2,' Prashanth Neel revealed that all his characters would be present in the sequel. “The relevance of all of this will only complement the friendship and the enmity between Deva and Varadha. And that is how I want to finish off 'Salaar 2,' that was the whole intention," he expressed.
