Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who was injured during the Vilayath Buddha shoot, has been discharged from Kochi Hospital where he was receiving treatment. He underwent a keyhole surgery. As per the hospital, he was treated for the reconstruction and repair of cartilage, cruciate ligament, and meniscus injuries
According to PTI, VPS Lakeshore Hospital said in a statement, “Dr Jacob Varghese, Director of Orthopaedics and Head of Joint Preservation at VPS Lakeshore, led the successful surgery. Following the surgery, he (Prithviraj) underwent a comprehensive physiotherapy regimen to aid in his recovery.” According to his doctor, with proper care and therapy, the actor is likely to make a full recovery within the next few months.
Prithviraj got injured on the sets during a fight sequence in Marayur on Sunday. After the accident, the Vilayath Buddha shoot has been put on hold until the actor recovered.
On Tuesday, Prithviraj took to his Instagram account and shared his health update, “Hello! So yes... I had an accident while shooting an action sequence for Vilayath Buddha. Fortunately, I'm in the hands of experts who performed a key hole surgery and I'm now recouping. It's rest and physiotherapy ahead for a couple of months. Will try my best to use that time constructively and I promise to fight through the pain to recover fully and get back into action ASAP. Thank you to all those who reached out and expressed concern and love."
Vilayath Buddha is directed by Jayan Nambiyar. Based on a book by G R Indugopan, the film revolves around a conflict that arises between two lead characters over the ownership of a sandalwood tree. Besides Prithviraj, the film also has actors Anu Mohan and Priyamvada Krishnan.
