Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who is now a renowned name in Hollywood as well, applauded Indian movie ‘RRR’ on its success. The SS Rajamouli film is already making waves in the West and Priyanka recently attended one of the various screenings of the film being held in the US.
She shared photos with filmmaker SS Rajamouli and composer MM Keeravani, and captioned it as, “Least I can do to contribute to this incredible Indian film’s journey. Good luck and congratulations to the team.”
For the unversed, ‘RRR’ has not only won a Golden Globe, but also two Critics Choice Awards (for Best Original Song and Best Foreign Film).
Meanwhile, Priyanka also praised Pakistani movie ‘Joyland’, which has been shortlisted in the Best International Feature category at the Oscars. Helmed by Saim Sadiq, it is the first-ever Pakistani feature to have made the Oscars’ shortlist cut, alongside the Indian entry ‘Chhello Show’.
Sharing a clip from ‘Joyland’, Priyanka wrote, “Joyland is truly a joy to watch. Bravo to the entire team for bringing this story to life. It’s a must watch.” Joyland’s team also reacted to Priyanka’s post and thanked her for her support.
‘Joyland’ revolves around a traditional Pakistani family’s youngest son, who joins as a backup dancer in a burlesque kind of theatre. He eventually falls for a transgender person. While the Pakistani government asserted it would ban the movie on grounds of ‘objectionable content,’ it was eventually selected as the country’s representative at the prestigious Oscars.
The film was released in Pakistan in November, 2022.
