Today, December 12 marks megastar Rajinikanth's birthday. Birthday wishes are pouring in for him on social media from all across the nation. On the occasion of Rajinikanth's 73rd birthday, makers are revealing the teaser and title of his upcoming film 'Thalaivar 170' at 5 pm. The movie also marks Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan's collaboration after three decades.
On October 25, the 'Jailer' actor shared a picture of himself with Mr Bachchan and he expressed great joy to reunite with the 'Paa' star in his next. The pic went viral on social media and since then excitement has been high and fans are waiting with bated breath to see their favourite stars sharing the same screen space after such a long time.
Well, many of you might not know that Mr Bachchan and Rajinikanth worked together in three films. Yes, the megastars shared the same screen space in 'Andhaa Kaanoon', 'Geraftaar' and 'Hum'.
'Andhaa Kaanoon'
The suspense thriller released in 1983 and it's still known for its unmatched brilliance. Iconic figures Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan delivered stellar performances. Directed by Rama Rao Tatinaini, it also starred Hema Malini, Reena Roy, Pran, Danny Denzongpa and Amrish Puri. It has been four decades since the release of the film, still, it's remembered by cine lovers.
'Geraftaar'
Starring three legends of Indian cinema- Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, 'Geraftaar' was a wholesome masala entertainer. It released in 1985 and also starred Poonam Dhillon, Kader Khan, Ranjeet and Shakti Kapoor.
'Hum'
Directed by Mukul S. Anand, 'Hum' released in 1991. Starring Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles, it was a massive success and received acclaim from critics, and viewers, as well as well received at the box office. Their on-screen presence created a rage and audiences went crazy over them. Govinda, Danny Denzongpa, Kimi Katkar, Deepa Sahi, Shilpa Shirodkar, and Anupam Kher played pivotal roles.
Amitabh and Rajinikanth share a good camaraderie. At IFFI 2019 in Goa, the former spoke highly about the latter. On his equation, with Rajinikanth, Big B said, “I think of Rajinikanth ji as a member of my family. We stay in touch and often talk. Sometimes he asks me for advice and vice versa.”
He added, “Sometimes I tell him not to do something but he goes ahead and does it. But thank you Rajini for being with me. You’re an incredible source of inspiration. Such a humble being, he came from such humble beginnings. He inspires us every day''.
Coming back to 'Thalaivar 170', directed by TJ Gnanavel, the film also stars Rana Daggubati and Fahad Faasil among others.
