Rajinikanth Explains Why He Touched CM Yogi Adityanath's Feet: It Is My Habit To Touch The Feet Of Yogis Or Sanyasis Even If They Are Younger Than Me

Superstar Rajinikanth who is currently basking in the success of his film, 'Jailer' met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday. On the same day, a special screening of the film was held in Lucknow, which was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

The pics and videos from their meet have gone viral on social media. A video of the Tamil actor coming out of his car and bowing down in front of Yogi Adityanath to touch his feet has created a stir on social media and it has become a hot topic of discussion now among netizens. As soon as the video was shared by news agency ANI on X (formerly known as Twitter), a section of netizens expressed their disappointment over Rajinikanth’s gesture and called it ‘pathetic’ and ‘worst’. Some even questioned how could the actor touch Adityanath's feet as Rajinikanth is older than him. 

Now, the 'Robot' actor has opened up on why he touched the CM's feet. He said that he has a "habit of touching the feet of sanyasis and yogis".

As quoted by ANI, Rajinikanth said, "It is my habit to touch the feet of Yogis or Sanyasis and take their blessings, even if they are younger than me. I have done that only."

Meanwhile, 'Jailer' has reportedly crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the box office worldwide. It released in theatres on August 10.
