Ravindra Berde Dies At 78: ‘Nayak’ And ‘Singham’ Star Passes Away Due To Throat Cancer

Ravindra Berde, who was the brother of Laxmikant Berde, died in the wee hours of the morning today. The actor was very popular in the Hindi and Marathi film industry. He had been suffering from throat cancer for a long time.

Veteran actor Ravindra Berde, who has acted in numerous Marathi films, has died after suffering a major heart attack. He was suffering for a long time with throat cancer. He was just 78. The news of his death has sent across a wave of mourning across the entire film and television industry. The wintery day couldn’t have been gloomier.

An ABP report stated that Ravindra Berde was being treated at the Tata hospital for quite some time for his illness. However, he was discharged a couple of days back.

For the unversed, Ravindra Berde is the brother of late actor Laxmikant Berde, who worked in numerous films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ and ‘Hum Aapke Hai Koun’. He too was a popular star in Marathi and Hindi cinema. He died back in 2004. Ravindra Berde on the other hand was predominantly a Marathi star. However, he made a few special appearances in Hindi films like ‘Nayak’ and ‘Singham’.

Reports further state that Ravindra Berde had previously suffered a heart attack in 1995 while he was performing in a Marathi play. He survived it, came out stronger and went on to do numerous films. He has acted in over 100 Marathi films. ‘Shodh’, ‘Khatarnak’, ‘Yeshwant’, and ‘Khilona Bana Khalnayak’ are some of the biggest hits of his career. It was only in 2011 that he was diagnosed with throat cancer.

His death is definitely a huge loss to both the Hindi and the Marathi film industries. An actor like him, who can mould himself into any character and always finds ways to give something innovative to the audiences, comes once in a lifetime. He shall be sorely missed by not just his fans but also by numerous people related to the film industry.

He is survived by his wife, two children, a daughter-in-law and a grandchild. May his soul rest in peace.
