On January 26, 2024, India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day. For the unversed, Republic Day marks the day in 1950 when our Indian Constitution came into effect and it's the perfect day to watch some patriotic films and series with your family and friends. 'Raazi'

'Raazi' starred Alia Bhatt as a spy. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film was based on Harinder Singh Sikka's book ‘Calling Sehmat'. The film is a real-life story of a 20-year-old Kashmiri girl, Sehmat (Alia Bhatt) who agrees to marry a Pakistani army officer (Vicky Kaushal). She disguises herself as a housewife and works as an undercover spy for India during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Alia and Vicky gave stellar performances and Meghna's class storytelling was lauded by audiences and critics. 'Raazi' won a lot of accolades. It is a great watch for this Republic Day. 

'The Forgotten Army -  Azaadi Ke Liye'

'The Forgotten Army - Azaadi Ke Liye' was helmed by Kabir Khan. It shows the journey of  Lieutenant Surinder Sodhi and other Indian soldiers, who marched 3884 kms from Singapore to the capital of India, Delhi to gain Indian independence from British rule during World War II. The series is inspired by true events about the lives of men and women in the Japanese collaborating Indian National Army, led by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It starred Sunny Kaushal, Sharvari, Shruti Seth, M. K. Raina, Rohit Chaudhary, and Akhil Iyer in pivotal roles. 

'Border'

Released in 1997, JP Dutta's 'Border' is one of the most-watched patriotic movies of all time. Every time we watch the film, it gives us goosebumps and takes us on a nostalgic trip. From songs like ‘Sandese Aate Hain’, and dialogues to mind-blowing action to performances, every single thing about 'Border' evokes a sense of patriotism. It had an ensemble cast of Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Akshaye Khanna, Jackie Shroff, Sudesh Berry, Pooja Bhatt and Puneet Issar among others. The film was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and how a group of soldiers from the Indian army were on a mission to guard a border post. This is a must-watch on January 26.

'Shershaah'

'Shershaah' is a biopic on PVC awardee Indian soldier Capt. Vikram Batra, who was known for his bravery and courage during the Kargil War in 1999. Sidharth Malhotra very well pulled off his character as Vikram Batra. Kiara Advani played the role of Dimple Cheema, Vikram Batra's fiancee, in 'Shershaah'. From the soulful music of the film to the dialogues and Kiara and Sidharth's on-screen love story and chemistry, everything will surely turn you emotional. 

'Indian Police Force'

Rohit Shetty's 'Indian Police Force' is a seven-episode series on Prime Video. It stars Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi. The series pays a heartfelt tribute to the selfless service, unflinching commitment, and patriotism of Indian police officers who put their lives at stake to keep the nation safe. It is packed with action, drama, and suspense, making it a total mass entertainer. You shouldn't give it a miss on Republic Day.
