Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal had recently dipped their toes in production with ‘Girls Will Be Girls.’ Directed by Shuchi Talati, the movie was selected to be presented at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this month. The movie has gone ahead to win not one, but two awards at the prestigious film festival. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal have reacted to this win.

‘Girls Will Be Girls’ won two awards at the Sundance Film Festival. The film won the Audience award in the World Dramatic Entry category. It also won the Special Jury Award for lead actor, Preeti Panigrahi. Reacting to the win, Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal released a joint statement. In their statement, the actors said that they were overwhelmed. They added that this win will motivate them to tell new stories and push boundaries.

Hindustan Times quoted the statement of the actors which read, “We embarked on this journey with Girls will be Girls with courage and the overwhelming response at Sundance has been stuff of dreams! This experience reinforces our belief in the power of storytelling and the need to champion diverse narratives that resonate globally. As actors, we've always craved powerful stories but getting those opportunities wasn't always in our hands. That's why it's heartening to see our new actors receiving this global acclaim. This recognition motivates us to continue pushing boundaries and telling new stories.”

Konkona Sen Sharma reacted to this win and commented, “Brilliant brilliant news!! Congratulations.”

Directed by Shuchi Talati, ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ revolves around the story of a young girl and her mother. The film is set in a North Indian hill station. It dives into the coming-of-age of the young girl and also traces her mother’s unfulfilled journey. The movie stars Kani Kusruti, Jitin Gulati, Preeti Panigrahi, and Kesav Binoy Kiron in lead roles.
