Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan recently underwent tricep surgery for an old injury and shared how he had neglected the issue for a long time. He mentioned how he finally decided to go further with the surgical procedure when the pain became unbearable. However, he slammed several media outlets for spreading misinformation and issued a clarification that neither his knee nor his back was the source of the injury.
The actor mentioned that his tricep had been aching intermittently since a long time, but more intensely on some occasions. Albeit, he only realised the intensity of it when he underwent surgery. “Other times it caused unbearable pain… I didn’t really know how serious the injury was,” Saif told Zoom.
Revealing how his tricep got hurt badly again while he was performing some action sequences for ‘Devara’. Koratala Siva’s Telugu film stars NTR Jr in the lead role. Despite the pain, Saif continued working, assuming everything was fine. “Then I was working out, and the pain felt aggravated and then it became okay,” he said.
Sharing how he only got an MRI done when his pain increased and doing anything demanding caused him pain, the actor added, “It was then that we discovered that the tricep’s tendon was torn very badly, barely holding in place like a rubber band which can snap at any moment.”
Last but not the least, he recalled how it was during the surgical procedure that the medical staff realised how serious the injury was. “When they opened up the arm—and there is quite a big cut where they opened it up—they realised the surgery was very badly needed. They cleaned it up, removed the fluid, sorted out the nerve as well as stitched up the tricep so wonderfully. I must say the doctors in charge were brilliant. They made some incisions in the bone and re-attached the tendon with a kind of anchor with dissolvable material that blends into the bone and heals the whole arm perfectly,” he signed off.
Saif had wrapped up the talkie portion of ‘Devara’ and other commitments before the surgery since he now has a month off. He then underwent the surgery at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hospital, and returned home on Tuesday for his month-long break to recover.
