Actress Saiyami Kher has come a long way from where she has started. Saiyami made her Bollywood debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s ‘Mirzya’ in 2016 but the movie was a colossal failure at the box office. She had no work for several months and then filmmaker Anurag Kashyap offered her ‘Choked’ for which she received critical appreciation. Later, she appeared in a few web shows but it was with R Balki’s ‘Ghoomer’ (2023), she finally got her due. Saiyami played the lead role of a paraplegic bowler. She was so good in the film that it got her lots of love and appreciation from all across the globe. From Amitabh Bachchan, and Sachin Tendulkar to critics and fans, everyone lauded Kher for her stellar act.
Saiyami told Outlook India that as an actor her goal is to keep working and improving. She said, "The goal is always to keep working, improving and striving to get better than what you were in your last film. As long as you strive to get better everything falls into place. I am not worried about what films come my way or don’t come my way. It's a part and parcel of the profession. But it's more about basically getting better about working on myself."
She also feels that OTT has opened up lots of opportunities and there is a lot of work for everyone. She feels it’s a big change which is not just centric to big films. She said, "With regards to me, I feel I have become a better actor because otherwise, I don’t know what I have been doing since seven years. So, I hope I have become a better actor in the last seven years. I feel I have got many friends and families because with every project you make new friends and families and I think that’s the blessing of being an actor."
The 31-year-old actor also expressed her desire to work with filmmakers like Zoya Akhtar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Neeraj Ghaywan. "There is a long list of people with whom I want to work with. So, hoping to check those ticks from the box," added Saiyami.
