Deepak Tijori, and Mukesh Tiwari to grace the inauguration of the 2nd Manikarnika Film Festival in Varanasi, which will be held from October 13 to 15, 2023. Last year, actor Sanjay Mishra inaugurated the film festival, where the best films from across India and the world were screened.
Talking about it, Sanjay Mishra said, "One of my favourite characters to date is in the film Vadh, and screening this film in one of my favourite places i.e Varanasi will be a surreal experience for me. I am so connected to this place and the vibe of the people here. It is one of the most ancient cities in the world, and I am very fond of it because Banaras has played a major role in my making. It has my heart and soul, and I wanted to give something back to my city. This film festival is the perfect medium to do that."
Further, talking about his short film ‘Papa Aur Smartphone’, he said, "I will be watching my short film, Papa Aur Smartphone, for the first time at this film festival. Just like a father answers every question of a curious child with love, there comes a point in life where a father has so many questions which need answering from his own grown-up kid. Papa Aur Smartphone is one such story where a son who is working with a multinational company in Mumbai gives a smartphone to his father who is visiting him for the first time. As his father has just gotten a new gadget (a smartphone), a lot of questions pop out, one of them being the question of balance."
The opening film will be 'Walk' starring Rahul Roy and Archana Puran Singh and Closing film will be 'Titu Ambani' which stars Deepika Singh, Tushar Pandey and Raghubir Yadav. Altogether, 37 short films and 18 feature films across the country and world will be screened extensively in the 3 days of the festival.
