It was on May 24 that the trailer of the thriller ‘Bloody Daddy’ featuring Shahid Kapoor was unveiled, and now a day after, it has been confirmed that the actor would feature in an action-thriller next, which would be helmed by Malayalam actor-director Rosshan Andrrews.

The high-octane drama would feature Shahid as a brilliant yet rebellious police officer investigating a high-profile case, but as he gets deeper into the case, he finds himself in a web of deceit and betrayal.

The actor, known for his chocolate boy looks, has now certainly made a move towards more edgy dramas and action-driven roles. After his super acting in ‘Kabir Singh’, he went on to Raj and DK’s ‘Farzi’ and now will feature in Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Blood Daddy’ next. At the trailer launch of the film, he was asked about his recent darker choices, at which he joked, “I have been married for eight years. I cannot take out frustration at home, so I go on the sets and take it out. ‘Farzi’ was a warm-up and now this (Bloody Daddy).”

Earlier, in an interview to PTI, Shahid had mentioned why he prefers to play edgier characters, and said, “It’s always, for me as an actor, much more challenging to pick up a character like that… As an actor, through the emotionality and his journey, I have to be able to make the audience like him. So, that’s always more complex, challenging and exciting. And when you pull it off, it gives you a deep sense of satisfaction.”

Talking about his upcoming film, the actor shared his excitement to work with acclaimed filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews, and said, “He is a veteran filmmaker whose Malayalam filmography is spectacular. We have spent many months together now and it will be a pleasure to work with such a fantastic cinematic mind. I can’t wait to bring this exhilarating, entertaining, and thrilling story to the masses.”

While ‘Bloody Daddy’ would release on Jio Cinema on June 9, his latest announced project would hit cinema halls in 2024.
