Shahid Kapoor is now gearing up to give it his all for the promotions of his upcoming light-hearted film 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.' After being absent from the big screens for so long, the actor is now set to make a comeback.

During the trailer launch of the film on Thursday, Shahid admitted that he missed playing lighter roles after having played a bunch of dark, intense characters. He said, “I have been missing doing something light and fun. But honestly, it is the most difficult genre to crack. I listen to ten scripts a month. People don’t know that, but there is so much to hear. I know people tell me ‘aur picture karo (do more films)’, but it is so difficult to find scripts that you feel that you are going to offer the audience something new. Love stories is the most difficult genre to do. I just feel that this film was answering that question of mine – What is it that you can do new in a love story? When I did 'Kabir Singh,' the character was new for me. The entire journey, the way the entire relationship was, it was shocking, but it was new. Post that, I didn’t hear anything that was exciting. Then popped in this film, and I was like this is it."

He shared with fans the enthusiasm for 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,' looking at it as a chance to showcase a never-before-told love story. He added, "We have to tell a love story that hasn’t been told before. Will people like it, or not like it, will they accept it, not accept it, that’s the journey as an artiste, as a creative person that you have to take."

On a more interesting note, the actor doesn't categorize 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha' as a basic romantic comedy. Instead, he envisions it as an extraordinary love story that isn't just all about the typical boy-meets-girl narrative, characterizing it as 'an impossible story.' He stated, "We found it very difficult to understand how to mount this film, what to call this film? So ‘an impossible story’ felt right. So I think this is more of a love story. It is also an entertainer and it has a big element of family and a very strong supporting cast. So it is a little wider than that (rom com)."

He gave insights into how he took upon the role. Hesitant at first, to do another love story, he was determined to bring a new element to the rom-com field. "It is a genre that I’ve loved. It’s the genre that has given some of the most iconic films of my career. So I didn’t want it to be just another love story. I felt like this genre needed something new,” he said.

Directed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sha, 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya' features a phenomenal cast including Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Dharmendra and Dimple Kapadia. The film is slated to hit the silver screens on February 9.
