Shahid Kapoor started his career in Bollywood as a background dancer and then made his debut with 'Ishq Vishk' in 2003. Post that he appeared in several movies and was known as the 'chocolate boy' of the industry. Later, he broke this image with his stellar performances in movies like 'Haider', 'Kaminey’, and ‘Udta Punjab’ among others. In a recent interview, Shahid revealed how he convinced the makers of 'Jab We Met' to let him wear glasses. Shahid played Aditya Kashyap in Imtiaz Ali's film. The movie also starred Kareena Kapoor opposite him.
In an interview with Film Companion, Shahid said that he fought with everybody as he wanted to wear glasses for his character and he added, ''Everybody’s like, ‘Are you mad?’ Hero glasses thodi pehenta hai? Tu gaana kaise gayega?”
Shahid revealed that he had to explain to the makers that Aditya’s character was suicidal at the beginning of the film and wanted to jump off a train. He told them that he would remove the glasses when he had to sing. But he got a response, “Are you mad? This is a love story.”
He added, “I felt like that will at least help people see me in a different way. Otherwise, I was always looking the same in every film of mine. And then I started making much bigger physical changes because it kind of empowered me to make more decisions. Like Kaminey was my first complete transition from what people were used to seeing me – usually clean-shaven and very boyish.”
On the work front, Shahid Kapoor will be seen in Dinesh Vijan’s yet-to-be-titled film opposite Kriti Sanon.
