Shirin Sewani, who has been part of shows such as ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, ‘Naagin 2’ and ‘Kavach 2’, says that success in the industry, or in any field, takes time and effort. Shirin Sewani has also been part of web series like ‘Taj Mahal 1989’ for Netflix, ‘Beauty Spot’ by Swastik Productions, ‘LSV’ by Director’s Kut Productions, ‘16’ for Sony Liv, ‘BACKPACKERS’ for Hotstar, ‘Dev DD’ for Alt Balaji, and ‘Only For Singles’ for MX player and ‘Rafuchakkar’ for JioCinema, adds that there is no substitute for hard work.
“I think, obviously, first of all, achieving success is something which is a journey in itself and it’s definitely a hard journey. If you are lucky now, then it’s a different scenario. But otherwise, I just think that hard work is the only way to be successful. Till today, whatever I have achieved, like all the projects that I have achieved, I don’t think any of them have been by luck or by chance. I have worked very, very, very hard to get each and every project. And I think success for me is when, see, there is obviously I think success is such a thing that no matter how much you get, we always feel that we want more,” she says.
She adds, “So, it’s very difficult to be content. But I think one can try and be content in a way when you see that your parents are proud of what you have done. They are content with what you have in life. They feel that our kids have achieved a lot, and they are satisfied with that. And you can see that too in your parents’ eyes. And when you come back from work, I think that is the definition of success for me because if we try to measure our success from our individual minds, then I think every time we want to achieve more. Because I don’t know about others, I can say that I am very hungry and a greedy actor. Every time I do one project which is bigger than the previous one, I want to do the other one, like better than this. But if your parents smile looking at your work, looking at you, and your parents feel that, our child has done well, so you are successful. You should be happy about it.”
Talking about her understanding of being part of the industry, she says, “So, I joined the industry back in 2013, so I have completed like 10 years. And, as I said earlier also, in one line, my pros and cons get covered. It breaks you before it makes you. But if you are working hard, if you are dedicated, nothing can stop you from shining bright. Of course, it will take time and to wait for your time and to be patient and to be honest to your work is something that you need to do. And yes, I just feel that the con side is that it’s very inconsistent.”
“And as I said, it’s very unpredictable. And some days, you are everywhere, and on some days, you just feel that you are nowhere. And you need to be okay with both. And when you are nowhere, you need to keep preparing yourself for the time that, yes, again, I will be everywhere. So, you can just not rest. So that’s the con. But I think that the pros are such because I feel that the pros are more because I love my job, and I always wanted to be an actor and I always wished to be part of the entertainment industry. so for me there are more pros than cons. you are lucky enough that you are doing something that you always wished to do. You are not working for money, you are working because it’s your dream. So living your dream is something very few people get to do in the world and I’m living and doing my dream job,” she concludes.
